The play

Humble Boy has sharp and amusing dialogue and a plot line with twists and turns beyond the obvious that should appeal to theatre lovers of all ages.

Felix Humble’s task in life is not so humble: to produce a unifed theory of physics.

But following the sudden death of his father, Felix must return home to his difficult and demanding mother, where he soon realises that his search for unity must include his own chaotic home life.

With echoes of Hamlet, Charlotte Jones’s play is a poignant and original comedy about broken vows, failed hopes and the joys of bee-keeping.

“Sad and funny, very, very funny… this is a seriously wonderful play” — Sunday Times.

Charlotte Jones, who went to school in Worcester, is one of our most accomplished and entertaining young playwrights. She won the Susan Smith Blackburn Award 2001, the Critics’ Circle Best New Play Award 2002, and the People’s Choice Best New Play Award 2002 for this play.
